White Supremacist Reactions to Tinley Park Five Incident Part II

While the lack of original thought coming from the white supremacist community is not exactly shocking, one reoccurring aspect of their reaction to the Tinley Park Five incident has turned out to be pretty illustrative. It’s hard to convey to you exactly how many of the threats HARM and those working on jail support for the Tinley Park Five center around anal rape. While some are able to come up with more creative menacing messages to send anti-racist activists, the majority of the hundreds of threats sent via email, twitter, and facebook are threats of forced anal sex, usually (though not always) to be carried out with black penises. For a bunch of (supposedly) straight, heterosexist white nationalists… It seems you spend a pretty significant amount of your time thinking about black penises.

White Nationalist Community Obsessed With Black Dick

There’s obviously a certain amount of ‘homophobes are queer‘ thinking that comes to mind here. Anyone who spends substantial amounts of their time rallying against what consenting adults do in their own bedrooms, despite the fact that it doesn’t directly effect them, reveals their preoccupation with gay sex. With predictable regularity, anti-gay crusaders repeatedly turn out to be self-hating closet cases. Realizing that the white supremacist community, like other heterosexist groups, attracts more than it’s share of non-heterosexuals may not be an earth-shaking epiphany, but I do think it reveals some of the links between the state, violence, sexual predation, and racism.

The State’s ultimate weapon in the war to control its population is the corrupt prison system. While the media, economics, and our school systems do an effective job of ensuring that the vast majority of people’s views do not stray far from the acceptable, the prison system is the last ditch effort at controlling those that still oppose the State’s interests. The act of kidnapping a person, locking them in a box, and isolating them from their friends and family is a viscous act of control. The State then encourages and institutionalizes violence within the prison system to turn these dungeons not only into a means of controlling those inside, but also to intimidate those not incarcerated into obeying its laws.

Violence, sexual and otherwise, is a reality of the prison system. However, the extent and nature of this violence is exaggerated, de-contextualized, and sensationalized by our media in film and television. Parroting main-stream media portrayals of prison life, the white supremacist community would have you believe that the second a ‘white’ person enters a jail or prison, he is given the option of joining a white supremacist gang or getting raped by big, scary black men. While conditions in all prisons are not the same, this simply isn’t true…

Most violence in prison is the result of retaliation for not paying debts, theft, child-molestation, snitching, or comes at the hands of guards. Not stealing, not borrowing, not snitching, not being a chomo, and not acting like a fool generally minimize the possibility of violent altercations. Just as in the outside world, your chances of being randomly assaulted are extremely minimal. Being an asset to your fellow inmates by performing services such as GED instruction can further minimize the chance of violence against your person.

The estimates of the percentage of incarcerated men who have at some time been coerced into sexual acts against their will are unacceptably high (generally ranging from 5%-20%). It should be noted, however, that these statistics still don’t come anywhere near the estimates of non-incarcerated women who will report being sexually assaulted (30%-40%) in their lifetimes. Furthermore, a disproportionate amount of sexual predation in men’s prisons is directed towards juvenile (who are being incarcerated as adults more and more frequently), transgender, and openly homosexual inmates. It’s also estimated that one in five sexual assaults in prison are perpetrated by guards.

What does it say about our State, if it’s forced to use violence and rape (real or perceived) in order to control the population? I have to wonder if all the white nationalist internet shit-talkers are kept from acting on their beliefs because they fear “ass-rape by all the negroes there” as fail troll Ron Tremley (@tremley) tried taunting us with.

I suppose many of these bigots have been locked up at some point in their lives. Maybe they have taken some unwanted black dick in the ass. Maybe doing things like getting swastikas tattooed all over makes you a target for black sexual predators. Maybe people like Steven “The Viking” Speers, the white supremacist victim of the alleged Tinley Park attack who was arrested for child pornography, do indeed get raped quite frequently. Being as I will never find myself in the position of being a swastika-covered pedophile, I’ll never have to worry about finding out.

I’m not entirely sure what the white nationalist trolls are trying to accomplish with their constant threats of anal rape. Surely they realize that the Tinley Park Five have no access to twitter, so they’re not intimidating the defendants. Those working on jail support are in constant contact with the Tinley Park Five and know that they’re doing great and are in good spirits. They’ve had absolutely no incidents with other inmates. In fact, they’ve been getting along so well that they have been frequently relocated within the jail, apparently to prevent them from forming bonds with other prisoners and organizing.

The threats of anal rape by members of the white supremacist community say much more about their community than they do the realities of incarceration.
